Hazardous Substances Taxes Activity Fee Registration Information
Who is required to register?
Facility registration information is sent to the Board of Equalization (BOE) from the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC).
The activity fee is a one-time fee for each application or permit modification submitted by a hazardous waste facility to the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC). The fee is a result of an action requested by the facility, such as a new permit, permit renewal, or permit modification (for example, variance or site mitigation assessment). The application fee is non-refundable, even if the application is withdrawn or denied.
The amount of the activity fee is determined by DTSC using the type and size of the facility and one of four Series designations assigned to the facility. The BOE is sent the fee information for billing and collection.
There is no online registration with BOE.
