Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fee

The Board of Equalization administers the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fee on behalf of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). The fee was established in 1993 to fund health care referrals, environmental assessments, and educational activities necessary to reduce a child’s exposure to lead and the consequences of the exposure. The fees collected are deposited into the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fund. In 2001 the CDPH adopted revised regulations changing the method of assessing the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Fee. Under the current method, each person’s liability is based on a “historic market share attributions” concept.
