Andal Announces Sacramento Taxpayer Service Day Scheduled
For October 21, 2000
Dean Andal, Chairman, State Board of Equalization (BOE) announced
today that several federal, state and local government agencies
will team up to offer a one-day, free tax seminar to Sacramento
area businesses. The seminar is designed to be a one-stop
source of business and tax information for small business
owners.

The Taxpayer Service Day will start at 8:30 AM with opening
remarks by Mr. Jim Speed, Executive Director of BOE and Mr.
Kenneth Stieger, Sacramento County Assessor. The seminar will
include general information sessions as well as workshops
tailored to suit the needs of the small business owner.
Topics to be presented include:
- Basic Sales and Use Tax;
- Federal Taxes and the Small Business Person;
- Financial Preparation for going into Business;
- Is Your Employee Eligible to Work in the United States?;
- State Basic Payroll Tax;
- State Income Taxes and Small Business;
- Taxpayer Rights: Problem Resolution Process; and
- Understanding Your Business Property Statement.
Representatives of the BOE, Employment Development Department,
Franchise Tax Board, Internal Revenue Service, and Small Business
Administration as well as other local, state and federal agencies
will be present to answer taxpayer questions.
