Orange County Small Business Tax Day Scheduled For
September 22
Several government taxing authorities will team up on Friday,
September 22 at California State University, Fullerton, to
offer a one-day, free tax seminar to Orange County businesses,
announced Claude Parrish, Vice Chairman, State Board of Equalization
(BOE).
The participating government agencies will have representatives,
information booths, and exhibits at the Titan Student Union
located on the CSU, Fullerton campus. The seminar will include
general information sessions as well as workshops tailored
to suit the needs of the small business owner.
The Orange County Small Business Tax Day will begin at 9
a.m. with opening remarks by Claude Parrish. From 10:00 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m. there will be informal sessions and workshops.
Some of the topics to be covered include: The Audit and Appeals
Process; Employee vs. Independent Contractor; Federal Deposit
Rules for Employment Taxes and Employment Tax Forms; Financing
Options; The Problem Resolution Process; Reporting Requirements;
Social Security Benefits and the Small Business Owner; and
Understanding the Business Property Statement.
Participating agencies include: the BOE, Cal OSHA, California
Municipal Business Tax Association, California Permit Assistance
Centers, California State University, Fullerton School of
Business Administration and Economics, Employer Advisory Counsel,
Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, Immigration
and Naturalization Service, Internal Revenue Service, Orange
County Assessor, Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector, Santa
Ana Enterprise Zone, Secretary of State, Small Business Administration,
Social Security Administration, and the State Compensation
Insurance Fund.
