Board of Equalization Announces Free Sacramento Taxpayer
Service Day for Small Business Owners
The State Board of Equalization (BOE) announced today that several federal, state, and
local government agencies will team up to offer a free one-day tax seminar to Sacramento area small
businesses. Designed to be a one-stop source of business and tax information for small business owners,
these events have been met with exceptional reviews. If you are a small business owner, you won't want
to miss this event! You will receive a wealth of information and be given the opportunity to talk to
the experts.

Registration for the taxpayer service day will start at 8:30 a.m. with opening remarks by Ms. Freda Orendt-Evans, Chief of Field Operations, Sales and Use Tax Department, at 9:00 a.m. The seminar will include general information sessions, as well as specific workshops tailored to suit the needs of business owners.
Some of the topics include:
- Basic Sales and Use Tax Return Seminar
- Audits and Appeals
- Understanding Your Business Property Statement
- State Income Taxes and Small Businesses
- Federal and State Payroll Reporting Requirements
- Employee or Independent Contractor?
- Know your Rights: Problem Resolution
Many workshops will also be held in Spanish.
Representatives of the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, Internal Revenue Service, and Small Business Administration, as well as other local, state, and federal agencies, will be present to answer taxpayer questions.
