Klehs Announces Bay Area Small Business Fair Scheduled
For May 6, 2000
Johan Klehs, Member, State Board of Equalization (BOE) announced today that
several federal, state and local government agencies will team up to offer
a one-day, free tax seminar to Bay area businesses. The seminar is designed
to be a one-stop source of business and tax information for small business
owners.
Date: Saturday, May 6, 2000
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The small business fair will start at 8:30 a.m. with opening remarks by Mr.
Klehs and the Honorable Susan Leal, San Francisco Treasurer. The seminar will
include general information sessions as well as workshops tailored to suit
the needs of the small business owner.
Workshops will be offered during the day. Some of the topics include:
- Sales and Use Tax Basics;
- Understanding Your Tax Obligation;
- Small business and Income Taxes;
- Problem Resolution Process;
- Employee or Independent Contractor?;
- Financing and Business Assistance; and
- Small Business and Income Taxes.
Representatives of the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax
Board, Internal Revenue Service, Small Business Administration as well as other
local, state and federal agencies will be present to answer taxpayer questions.
