New District Tax Takes Effect In Alameda County As Another District Tax Expires

At midnight March 31, 2002, the Alameda County Transportation Authority (ACTA) 0.50 percent transactions and use tax will expire. Immediately following, the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority (ACTI) 0.50 percent transactions and use tax will take effect. Voters in Alameda County approved the ACTI to replace the ACTA tax. Therefore the sales and use tax rate in Alameda County will remain at 8.25 percent.
