San Diego Small Business Tax Information Day Scheduled for
Friday, March 2
Several government taxing authorities will team up on Friday, March 2nd at
Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego, to offer a one-day, free tax seminar
to San Diego businesses, announced Claude Parrish, Chairman, State Board of
Equalization (BOE) and member, Franchise Tax Board (FTB).
The participating government agencies will have representatives, information
booths and workshops tailored to suit the needs of the small business owner.
The San Diego Small Business Tax Information Day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with
opening remarks by Claude Parrish. From 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. there will
be informal sessions and workshops. Some of the topics to be covered include:
- The Audit and Appeals Process
- Employee vs. Independent Contractor
- Federal Employment Taxes
- How Social Security Affects Small Businesses
- Small Business Resource Information for San Diego County.
Participating agencies include; the BOE, Cal/OSHA, Employment Development
Department, Franchise Tax Board, Immigration and Naturalization Service, Internal
Revenue Service, City Treasurer's Office, County Assessor, County Recorder,
San Diego Regional Permit Assistance Center, SCORE, Secretary of State, Small
Business Development and International Trade Center, Social Security Administration,
State Compensation Insurance Fund and the U.S. Small Business Administration.
