Riverside Small Business Tax Day
Claude Parrish, Member, State Board of Equalization (BOE), announced that
over 14 government taxing authorities will team up on Thursday, April 11, 2002,
at Riverside Convention Center to offer a one-day, free tax seminar to Riverside
County businesses. Designed to be a one-stop source of business and tax information
for small business owners, these events have been met with great reviews. If
you are a small business owner, you won't want to miss this event! You will
receive a wealth of information and be given an opportunity to talk to the
experts.
Date: Thursday, April 11, 2002
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Place: Riverside Convention Center
3443 Orange Street, Riverside, CA 92501
Registration for the small business tax day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with opening
remarks by Mr. Parrish at 8:30 a.m. The seminar will include general information
sessions, as well as specific workshops tailored to suit the needs of business
owners. There will be eight workshops offered in Spanish.
Some of the topics to be covered include:
- Sales and Use Tax Preparation
- Employee vs. Independent Contractor
- IRS Employment Taxes
- The Effect of Self Employment on Your Social Security Benefits
- State Income Taxes and Small Business
Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise
Tax Board, Internal Revenue Service, and Small Business Administration, as
well as other local, state, and federal agencies, will be present to answer
taxpayer questions.
