Free Veterans Small Business Seminar Coming to Millbrae
Millbrae – Veterans who own a business or would like to start one are invited to attend a free San Mateo Veterans Small Business Seminar in Millbrae on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Chairwoman Fiona Ma is sponsoring the event with State Senator Jerry Hill, State Assemblymember Kevin Mullin, San Mateo County Supervisor Dave Pine, San Mateo County Assessor Mark Church, the City of Millbrae, and the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz).
Those looking for assistance with state and federal tax laws, as well as those who want to expand their business knowledge, will benefit from the informative presentations. Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, United States Department of Veterans Affairs, and Franchise Tax Board will conduct the presentations and answer questions. Topics include contracts with the State of California, veterans' business exemptions, and the Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
"As veterans come home and try to adjust to their life after service, it is important that they have access to resources and information to be successful," said Chairwoman Ma. "This event and the information shared is just a small token of our appreciation for their service."
