Celebrate National Small Business Week at a Free Business Resource Seminar in Carson
Carson – Los Angeles area business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals who would like to start a business can celebrate National Small Business Week at a free Small Business Tax Seminar and Resource Expo in Carson on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
"During National Small Business Week, our goal is to provide resources to help small business owners succeed," said California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member Jerome E. Horton. "If you are interested in growing your business and capitalizing on state, local, and federal resources, I highly recommend that you attend the Carson Business Resource Seminar."
Horton is sponsoring the event with State Senator Isadore Hall III, State Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, Los Angeles County Assessor Jeffrey Prang, Economic & Workforce Development Department General Manager Jan Perry, City of Carson, and the Carson Chamber of Commerce.
Although National Small Business Week, hosted by the United States Small Business Administration, runs May 1 through 7, the BOE has seminars and classes year round to help entrepreneurs realize their business dreams. The seminar will provide assistance for a variety of businesses, from restaurants and auto-repair garages to convenience stores and construction contractors, and attendees will receive assistance on complying with state and federal tax laws.
The broad range of topics covered during the seminar include: simplifying sales and use tax for your business, recordkeeping, tips for business success, and forms of ownership. Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, and Internal Revenue Service will conduct the presentations and answer questions.
