Board of Equalization Appoints Deputy Director of Property Tax Department

Culver City – The Members of the California State Board of Equalization (BOE) appointed Dean Kinnee as the Deputy Director of the Property Tax Department at its February 24, 2015 meeting. Mr. Kinnee’s appointment was effective immediately.

“Dean has amazing expertise in the property tax arena,” said BOE Chairman Jerome E. Horton. “We wish him great success in administering our state’s property tax programs.”

“During my time on the Board, I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with Mr. Kinnee on quite a few property tax issues,” said Vice Chair Runner. “He is a knowledgeable and trusted public servant. I’m confident that in his new role he’ll continue to provide good advice and outstanding leadership.”

“Dean Kinnee is a great asset to California taxpayers,” said Board Member Fiona Ma. “The BOE is honored to have his talent.”

Dean Kinnee has served as a Division Chief in the BOE’s Property Tax Department since he was appointed in 2002. Prior to that, he served as a property appraiser and Principal Property Appraiser in the BOE’s Property Tax Department since 1990. Mr. Kinnee also served as a real estate appraiser with the Yolo County Assessor’s Office from 1984 to 1990. Mr. Kinnee is a Certified Property Tax Appraiser and has a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics from the University of California at Davis.
