VITA

Overview

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation to households with incomes of $54,000 or less. Families in Los Angeles and Ventura counties can take advantage of this free service at one of several Free Income Tax Preparation and Family Resource Fair events or at a Board of Equalization office or other location. Trained volunteers from the BOE, Franchise Tax Board, and university and community college accounting programs provide assistance. In addition to thousands of dollars in Federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC), some will qualify for the State EITC as well.
