Chairman Horton Announces Free Income Tax Assistance

Federal tax credits supplement the wages of low-income workers, especially working mothers. Residents in Los Angeles County may qualify for approximately $5,800 in earned income tax credit from the federal government. “For every 1,000 returns we complete, a potential 5.8 million dollars would be available to stimulate local economies and improve the quality of life for low-income individuals and families,” Chairman Horton said.

California businesses should encourage their employees to capitalize on Federal Tax Credits. If your employee earned less than $51,000, they may be entitled to federal tax credits of up to $12,000 including $5,891 in Federal Earned Income Tax Credits. It’s like a bonus for employees paid for by the Federal Government.

Attached please find the BOE Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) brochure, which will provide you and your employees more details about the VITA events, including eligibility requirements, necessary documents, locations, dates, and times.
