BRIDGES: Good afternoon, honorable 20 Members. 21 I would like to acknowledge the passing of two 22 BOE staff and express condolences to their families. 23 First is Ms. Barbara Rosaura Zuniga, who 24 started her fourteen years State service career in 25 October of '98. All of those years were served with the 26 Board. She was a Tax Technician III in the West Covina 27 District Office. Ms. Zuniga died on Thursday, 28 December 27th, 2012 from complications of diabetes. She 3 1 was 46 years old. 2 Secondly is Ms. Pamela Molina. She was a 3 35-year State service employee who began her service in 4 May of '77 with the Department of Industrial Relations 5 as a seasonal employee. The last twenty years were 6 spent serving the Board. Ms. Molina was a Tax 7 Technician I in the Fresno District Office. She died on 8 Friday, December 28th, 2012 at the age of 56 years old. 9 Please join me in honoring the lives of our 10 beloved BOE family members and our deepest thoughts and 11 prayers go out to their families. 12 MR. HORTON: Our condolence to the -- to the 13 entire families of Ms. Zuniga and Ms. Molina. 14 Ms. Zuniga actually served in the Torrance 15 office, which is an office that I served for, I think, 16 10 or 15 years prior to coming from the Inglewood 17 office. 18 And, so, the passing and the loss of a team 19 member is certainly a loss of the family but it's also a 20 loss to our organization. 21 So, our condolence goes out to the entire 22 family. 23 And Members, I would ask that we adjourn in 24 their memory. 25 MS. BRIDGES: Next I am pleased to present 71 26 nominations for the 2011-2012 employee recognition award 27 program for the Board's approval. 28 This year's nominations have been approved by 4 1 the executive team and include 63 individual awards and 2 eight group awards recognizing a total of 356 employees. 3 The group awards include Chicago Paperless 4 Committee, Underground Economy Educational Efforts, Lead 5 Source Program 1032, Physical Security Section, Redding 6 Collection Assistance Team, Norwalk Positive Impact 7 Cashier's Tax Appeals Assistance Program and 8 eRegistration. 9 As a result of their resourcefulness and 10 willingness to go the extra mile, all of these honorees 11 have worked to provide exemplary service to the Board of 12 Equalization and to the State of California. 13 We ask that the Board approve this year's 14 nominees. Once the Board approves this year's nominees, 15 we will honor the Southern California award recipients 16 at the Culver City Board meeting in February.
