HORTON: As we all know that the circle of 6 life has a tendency to bless us with some wonderful, 7 wonderful memories and we certainly will have joyous 8 memories of Miss Cazadd and are appreciative of her 9 compassion, her competence but most of all her 10 commitment to the individual team members in our 11 collective group that we refer to as the family of the 12 Board of Equalization. 13 The circle of life also brings about challenges 14 for us with the passing of our loved ones and we wanted 15 to take this opportunity to present a resolution to 16 Miss Cazadd on behalf of her mom. 17 Member Yee. 18 MS. YEE: Thank you, Chairman Horton. 19 It is with tremendous honor, and I know I speak 20 on behalf of the entire Board, with our deepest sympathy 21 to recognize Alice May Friederichs and -- who left us 22 suddenly on December 12th, just about a week ago and, 23 obviously, Miss Cazadd very, very devoted to her mother. 24 But something that we just wanted to have an 25 opportunity to share with all of you, she was an award 26 winning renowned artist. And I think certainly when I 27 think about artists it's always about how through just 28 beautiful work of hands, you're able to share so much 3 1 of -- of the natural beauty with so many and all around 2 the world. 3 She studied with many well-known artists using 4 a variety of media. And, you know, she in her own right 5 just was so acknowledged for the the work that she did 6 and particularly a painting that did the called "Dancing 7 Cranes" at California Watercolor Biennial Competition 8 and Exhibition at the Triton Museum in Santa Clara, that 9 I think certainly she leaves a legacy. 10 And Kristine, I think just knowing, and 11 hopefully knowing how her works of art have touched so 12 many with so much beauty I hope can bring you peace and 13 comfort and wish you and your family the best during 14 this very, very difficult time. 15 We'd love to present this resolution to you in 16 honor of your mother. 17 MS. CAZADD: Thank you so much, Members, it's 18 very much appreciated. 19 ---o0o--- 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 4 1 REPORTER'S CERTIFICATE 2 3 State of California ) 4 ) ss 5 County of Sacramento ) 6 7 I, JULI PRICE JACKSON, Hearing Reporter for the 8 California State Board of Equalization certify that on 9 DECEMBER 19, 2012 I recorded verbatim, in shorthand, to 10 the best of my ability, the proceedings in the 11 above-entitled hearing; that I transcribed the shorthand 12 writing into typewriting; and that the preceding pages 1 13 through 4 constitute a complete and accurate 14 transcription of the shorthand writing. 15 16 Dated: JANUARY 2, 2013 17 18 19 ____________________________ 20 JULI PRICE JACKSON 21 Hearing Reporter 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 5
