            6            MS. OLSON:  Our last item for the day is closed 

            7   session.  

            8            MS. STEEL:  Chairman Horton.  

            9            MR. HORTON:  Member Steel.  

           10            MS. STEEL:  Before we go into closed session, I 

           11   ask that, uh, when we come back, we recess our meeting 

           12   today in honor of Mark Leones.  Mark was an Associate 

           13   Tax Auditor in Irvine, and he was killed in a bicycle 

           14   accident on Sunday, October 16th, and he was only -- 

           15            MR. HORTON:  -- 28.  

           16            Um, Mark was an Associate Tax Auditor in the 

           17   Irvine office who was killed in a bike accident on 

           18   Sunday, October 16.  Mark was only 28 years old.  Very 

           19   vibrant, engaging individual.  Very kind as well, and 

           20   will be missed by many.  

           21            He joined the Board of Equalization in 2006 but 

           22   began his service to the State of California as a youth 

           23   aid, much like I did myself, at the Composition 

           24   Insurance Fund in 2000.  His service was a credit to our 

           25   agency and to the State of California.  

           26            I now -- I know I speak for all the Members on 

           27   the Board of Equalization, our deepest condolence to the 

           28   family and to the Members of the Board of Equalization,

            1   our team.  When we lose someone in such a 

            2   uncontrollable, unknown, sad situation, um, it touches 

            3   all of us and it causes a certain element of pain for 

            4   all of us.  And so to all of our employees and to the 

            5   family, our condolence.  

            6            The Board, when we adjourn, will adjourn in the 

            7   memory of Mark.
