HORTON: Ms. Olson. 6 MS. OLSON: Our next item is P7.1, Use Tax 7 Survey and Statewide Poll. 8 MS. GORE: Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman, 9 Members. 10 MR. HORTON: Good afternoon. 11 MS. GORE: I'm Anita Gore, Deputy Director of 12 the External Affairs Department. 13 You have in front of you a survey to be used to 14 determine knowledge and attitudes towards use tax. 15 I have one suggested minor change you might 16 want to consider. Based on the nexxus legislation and 17 new compromised proposals on the Governor's desk for his 18 consideration, uh, question 16, you might want to modify 19 slightly to read: "There has been much discussion about 20 requiring out-of-state retailers who meet certain 21 conditions to collect the use tax," etcetera. That 22 language would replace the specific reference to "a new 23 law enacted in June." 24 Once approved by the Board, the survey will be 25 distributed to those who attend our seminars and small 26 business fairs, our interested parties lists, and other 27 stakeholders lists. We will gather the information we 28 receive and offer a written report. 3 1 And I'd be happy to answer any questions you 2 might have. 3 MR. HORTON: Discussion, Members? 4 Member Yee. 5 MS. YEE: Uh -- oh, no discussion. 6 I concur with -- 7 MR. HORTON: Oh. 8 MS. YEE: -- the amendment as suggested by 9 Ms. Gore. I'm ready to make a motion to approve. 10 MR. HORTON: As amended, moved by Member Yee. 11 Second by, uh, Mr. Runner. 12 MR. RUNNER: Just a real quick point of 13 conversation. Uh, I know we're -- we're -- as soon as 14 we approve this, we're going to send this out to about 15 200,000 folks in our e-mail list to just begin to -- to 16 get some, uh -- some information back on. 17 Uh, I'd be remiss to say I think that this is 18 is a very appropriate survey for us to take. I'm 19 anxious to also make sure that in the future we take a 20 look at a more scientific polling. And I know that's 21 part of the BCP. But I think that no matter what 22 happens with that BCP over in Finance, I think it's -- 23 we should always be wanting to get good information that 24 we can make good public decisions on. 25 So, thanks. 26 MR.
