HORTON: Members, I take a moment or two 5 just to honor the passing of some distinguished 6 individuals who have -- who are no longer among us 7 but -- certainly physically but in the hearts of many. 8 First there is Chip Yamamoto. Chip passed away 9 on Sunday, January 23rd. He first started working for 10 the State of California at the Board of Equalization in 11 the Cashier's Unit about 12 years ago -- 11 and a 12 half -- 11 years and eight months, to be exact, in July 13 of 1996. 14 His most recent position at the Board of 15 Equalization was in the mail room. He will be greatly 16 missed by his Board of Equalization family as well as 17 his personal family. 18 Arthur Weichbrodt -- I can't pronounce Arthur's 19 last name, never could -- also 47 years with the BOE. 20 He's 80-years-old. He passed away January 14, 2011 at 21 his home in Rescue, California. 22 Art worked for the State of California, Board 23 of Equalization, as a Sales Tax Auditor from 1964 to 24 1999, when he retired from a full-time position with us. 25 He then continued to work with the Board of Equalization 26 part time as a retired annuitant until July of 2009. He 27 worked for the Internal Security and Audit Division for 28 the last ten years conducting refunds and audits of 3 1 various units within the Board of Equalization. 2 His continued involvement in our -- in our 3 agency was extremely appreciated by us and he will be 4 missed. 5 And on a -- on a more personal note, as many of 6 you know, I want to just take the opportunity to -- to 7 thank my BOE family for all of the condolences and -- 8 and well-wishes and thoughts that they've shared in the 9 passage of my father-in-law as well as my mother-in-law, 10 who passed away January 8th, just some six months after 11 the passage of my father-in-law. I guess they had this 12 bond called love. They've been together for 53 years 13 and they just continued and wanted to stay together. 14 And so thank God for that opportunity for them 15 to be able to do that. 16 We are extremely thankful and appreciative 17 for -- for these individuals, for the lives that they 18 lived and the significant impact that they made on so 19 many people's lives. And we wanted to thank you and 20 adjourn the meeting in their memory. 21 (Whereupon further proceedings transpired.) 22 ---oOo--- 23 MR. HORTON: That -- 24 MS.
