The meeting is hereby called back to 9 order. 10 I'd like to just express my gratitude to my 11 colleagues. Thank you so very much for your confidence 12 and your support as we collaborate to continue to 13 revitalize California's economy and to enhance the work 14 that's done by -- that has been done by our Chair, who 15 will always be Chair to me. 16 I want to start out by thanking her, thanking 17 Betty for increasing the transparency of the agency, the 18 accountability of the agency and just moving us in a 19 direction that I think will take the agency leaps and 20 bounds above all others. 21 Your leadership has been significant to me. I 22 want to just -- just expressure of my appreciation for 23 that. And to all of my -- all the employees here at the 24 Board of Equalization, thank you for your assistance in 25 this transitioning period, for your leadership. 26 These have been some tough times and all of you have 27 stepped up to the plate and I wanted you to know that I 28 am extremely grateful for that and I consider you 3 1 partners in this process as Chair. This is not a 2 singular or unitary chairmanship from my perspective. 3 Much like our previous Chair, we have 4 partners that exist of the employees, the Members of the 5 Board of Equalization, the Governor, the Legislature, 6 but most of all the employees here at the Board of 7 Equalization. You know my passion for you. I've served 8 here for -- grew up at this agency, and I have the 9 greatest admiration for the work that you do. 10 And to my colleagues here, I look -- I'm just 11 excited about working with you collaboratively to 12 continue the progress made under our Chair, Chairwoman 13 Betty Yee. And please give her a round of applause for 14 all the work that she's done. 15 (Applause) 16 You know what, every now and then we stand for 17 a lot of different things in our lives. This is a 18 golden opportunity to stand for a champion of the Board 19 of Equalization that we are excited about her continued 20 leadership.
